No Agreement on Samuel

The deadline for franchise tagged players to sign a deal with their teams passed today with no agreement between the Patriots and cornerback Asante Samuel  This is not exactly surprising news as Samuel and his agent Alonzo Shavers have decided that now is the time to go for the big money.  Unfortunately for Samuel the team is in a strong bargaining position, with strengths on both sides of the ball.  The Patriots do not have a desperate need for defense since the offense should have dangerous weapons.  The team could definitely benefit from Samuel on the team, but the realities of business today have forced this standoff.  Asante has to look after his own interests, and management has to look after their’s.  Unfortunately with training camp a week away the fans can’t see the best possible team on the field.  Luckily for fans there are many other great talents to watch this next season.
