Patriots Notes: Mays Claimed, Thomas Out, Rivers Returns, and More

This actually happened on Tuesday, but Patriots linebacker Corey Mays was claimed off of waivers by the Cincinatti Bengals, ironically. In the game, they brought four active linebackers, and left with two. I guess it was our fault we lost Mays.

Also, David Thomas is out for the season after injuring his leg in the Cincinatti game. Dissapointing, as I really think he can be a great receiving tight end. With Thomas out, the team resigned Marcellus Rivers, who has been signed, cut, and resigned about 50 times. His deal is two years.

Also, the injury report is out. Some of the players who had limited participation were Laurence Maroney, Donte Stallworth, Kelley Washington, Dan Koppen (uh-oh), Rosy Colvin, Randall Gay, and Stephen Neal. 2 lineman, 2 key offensive “skill” players, and two big defensive factors. Not good.

This Sunday, the Patriots will square off against the Browns, who are surprisingly 2-2 (Oh Romeo, I have faith in thou… but you will lose Sunday, ha!). Keep an eye on Braylon Edwards, who has been spectacular the last few weeks. Even though I like the Browns defense a lot, it’s not very good for some reason, so once again, the Patriots should dominate on offense. Defensively, I’m not worried about the Brown’s offense, even though it has been pretty darn good. You have to think that Belichick will tear Derek Anderson apart.
