Rodney Harrison Activated, Rivers Released: Pats vs. Browns Preview

Wow, Belichick is a jerk. He just released Marcellus Rivers… again. He signs him to a two year deal a couple of days ago, and immediately, he’s gone again.

But at least Rodney has been activated. It should be exciting to see him back with the team tomorrow, when the Patriots face off against the Browns.

The Browns have been surprisingly good this year, and I really like their team. That being said, they are likely going to drop to 2-3.

Keys to the Game
1. Wear down the Browns Front Seven – The Patriots should use the run to break down the Brown’s pretty strong front seven that includes Wimbley and McGinest. If Maroney is back, look for him to have a big game.

2. Attack Through the Air – The Browns have a relatively weak secondary, and the Patriots should be quick to exploit it. Once again, watch for a mix of Moss going deep with Welker underneath, and Stallworth on the outside.

3. Contain Braylon Edwards – In my mind, the Brown’s best offensive weapon is Braylon Edwards. I think that in order to be successful defensively, the Patriots are going to have to double him, while Rodney and Eugene take deep halves.

5 Players to Watch – Browns
1. Braylon Edwards, WR
2. Kareion Wimbley, LB/DE
3. Kellen Winslow Jr., TE
4. Willie McGinest, DE
5. Derek Anderson, QB

5 Players to Watch – Patriots
1. Rodney Harrison, SS
2. Randy Moss, WR
3. Adalius Thomas, LB
4. Tom Brady, QB
5. Logan Mankins, G

Greg’s Prediction: Patriots 38 Browns 10

I’m going with 38 again, just for the heck of it. Although you gotta enjoy blowouts, wouldn’t it be more fun to have a game that went down to the wire?

Rivers will most likely be re-activated soon. Belichick probably needed a one-day roster spot for someone else and will sign Rivers again soon, as Rivers has not even left town yet. Plus we are really thin at TE with Thomas out, so we need Rivers.
