You’ve probably heard about this already.  Two days ago, Steeler’s safety Anthony Smith guaranteed the Steelers would beat the Patriots this sunday.  Smith stated, “We’re going to win…  Yeah, I can guarantee a win.”

Wow… Steelers fans should be smacking themselves in their heads, Anthony Smith just gave the Patriots something to play for.  Smith did nothing, but draw attention to himself with his statement.

Many Patriots had something to say about it today.  Captain Tom Brady stated, “It always comes down to who plays better. Well done is always better than well said — that’s been the motto of this team.”  Most of the players, like Brady, stated that they wouldn’t be affected by Smith’s words.  Junior Seau insisted that, “there is obviously a build-up before the game and that’s the way this started. There is going to be talk every week. We’re not going to pay attention to that. We’re going to try to do what we do every week, which is work. Hopefully that will be good enough come Sunday. Come Sunday, all the talk will be between the white lines. It always is.”
