Gay Enters Free Agency Without a Contract

Mike Reiss reports:

The Patriots and CB Randall Gay have exchanged contract proposals leading into free agency, but it has been decided at this time that Gay will test free agency, his agent Albert Elias said today.

Gay has stated throughout the process that his wishes are to remain in New England, but at this time, the sides remain apart in negotiations. Elias said the sides will continue to talk.

I wish we could have signed him, but it looks like we might not.  With Samuel all but gone, it would be nice if the Pats could retain Gay, who played inconsistently, but well at times during his four years with us.

Hey, maybe a Randall Gay departure could mean a Ty Law arrival…

The Patriots and Ty Law have missed each other mightily. Law won’t replace Samuel, but it would give the secondary a real boost just to have him on the sideline IMO.
