Patriots to Work Out Cason, Groves Today

Today, the Patriots have workout scheduled with two first round prospects.

The two prospects are Cornerback Antoine Cason and Defensive End / Outside Linebacker Quentin Groves.

Both players have been flying up the boards recently, and could go anywhere from the 18-40 range.

Groves could be a potential replacement to Rosevelt Colvin.  He would project as an outside linebacker in the 3-4, and could play end in certain sub-packages.  He’s one of those guys with a combination of size, strength, and speed, and could really make an impact on this team.

Cason looks like a future star at corner.  He’s got the size at just above 6′, he ran a 4.48 40 yard dash, and has terrific ball skills.  Potential replacement to Asante Samuel?  We’ll see.

One thing I can guarantee you: the Patriots will draft a corner and/or linebacker in the first three rounds.  Just take a look at the visits: all linebackers and corners except for Run DMC.
