Has Anyone Else Heard the Dorsey Rumor?
Posted Under: Uncategorized
Over the past couple of days, there has been rumor floating around the web that the Patriots are looking to trade up to select Glenn Dorsey.
If he was around at seven, he would be the best player available… but trading up? Dorsey doesn’t even fit the 3-4 scheme. It just doesn’t make sense. Dorsey is talented, very talented, but I just don’t see how a guy like him could fit in.
…unless… the Patriots were to move to the 4-3, which seems realistic considering how the defensive line is younger and better than the linebackers. But… I just don’t think the Patriots should shift their schemes and I don’t think the rest of the personnel fits the 4-3.
I really don’t understand this rumor.

Never believe “rumors” the week of the draft. The Pats are notorious for keeping secrets, especially about the draft. If they were to trade up, I imagine it would be for Long or Gholston. I think they are far more likely to trade down, especially if Matt Ryan is available at 7.

I’m hearing that the Pats very well could take a DT like Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis. If this is true, then I could definitely see them making a move to the 4-3. It would play to our strength at DLine and keep rotating LBs.
As we all know, the Pats are notorious for playing both defensive schemes at any moment, so it would be very interesting to be able to game plan a totally different defensive scheme from week to week if we have the personnel to do so.
