Mayo!

The Patriots made a splash, by trading the seventh overall pick, plus their fifth round pick to the Saints for the tenth overall pick, plus a third round pick.

Then, at 10, the Patriots selected ILB Jerod Mayo.  I love it!

Mayo is the best linebacker in the draft, in my opinion.  He is very smart, he is strong, a solid tackler, has great instincts, and is very versatile.

I think he’s going to be starting next to Bruschi this year, and will rack up 100+ tackles.

More to come.

I also love this pick. Mayo should be an instant starter and is a great fit for this team. Once again, the Patriots making great moves/picks in the draft.

Patriots should now try to get Cliff Avril with their first 3rd round pick. He could turn into a great OLB.

Pats Fan Blog, I agree. There’s also still Bruce Davis as well, but I’m surprised Avril has lasted this long.

definately a good pick. he mightve been a slight reach but according to profootballtalk.com the lions were planning to take him at 15
