Rodney Harrison Done For Year, Maybe Career

I think everyone knew it was coming, but no one wanted to hear it.  NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reports:

It did not look good Monday night when Patriots safety Rodney Harrison dropped to the ground, and it is not.

Harrison suffered a season-ending, and potentially career-ending, torn quad muscle.

Harrison, who turns 36 in December and whose contract with the Patriots is up after this season, could well have played his last down Monday night. When he was carted off the field, Harrison waved to the fans at Gillette Stadium as if he knew he was saying goodbye.

Many will root for Harrison to return, and it’s always possible he could. But if he decides he wants to play, he will be attempting an improbable comeback. This is a tough injury to overcome for an aging safety.

If he never plays again, Harrison will garner Hall of Fame consideration. A former fifth-round pick out of Western Illinois in 1994, Harrison went to two Pro Bowls, won two Super Bowls and is the only player in NFL history with at least 30 interceptions and 30 sacks.

I think everyone really does wish Rodney Harrison the best.  While opposing teams made have hated him for his “dirty hits,” Rodney really was a class professional.  I personally think that he was one of the very best to ever play the position, and I think he does deserve Hall of Fame status.

All we can do is cross our fingers and hope that Rodney recovers quickly.  If everything works out, maybe he will return some day… but for now, his health is the only important factor.

Rodney is a class act and definitely should be a HoF candidate. My best friend who works for the Pats called me after the game and confirmed that Rodney’s career is over after this injury. Very sad to hear this but man did he give us some great moments.

Rodney played every down hard and is a role model for that behavior, despite the villification he received as a result. He also was All Pro, a few times I believe (and first team at least once), which is a higher bar than Pro Bowls and may help his HOF consideration.

Harrison is a scumbag and got what he deserved finally. No way he should make the Hall of Fame after he admittedly took HGH. Thank God we no longer have to see this asshole play.

You’re sick. You think someone deserves an injury like that?

Go to gell.

And thank god we no longer have to see this asshole speak. Banned.

Yeah, saying something like that is absolutely classless. I can understand disliking a player, thinking a player plays the game dirty and all that, but to actually rejoice about someone’s career coming to an end by way of injury is just a piece of shit move.

He is a lowlife. He cheated and is getting what he deserved. What if you were someone like Priest Holmes whose career was ended by a steroid using scumbag like Shawn Merriman? You would be pretty pissed off. Harrison is no better than Merriman, in face he’s even dirtier. He is the all-time leader in personal fouls in the NFL because he is such a douchebag.

No different than Merriman? Maybe Merriman is dirty but he is a great player and I wish him best on his recovery. I understand Harrison is a guy that some people might not like, but it is classless to say that he deserved something like this. There’s an easy way that I can block you for good from this site: ban your IP. And I will immediately following this.

dude “PatsSuck2″ i hate the patriots just as much as the next guy does but you still shouldn’t wish injury on anyone else……you might not like them but the fact is that the patriots played the game the way it’s supposed to be played and earned the best regular season record in football history and earned 3 super bowl rings.
