When Adalius Thomas went down with injury a couple of weeks ago, I named Rosevelt Colvin as a potential suitor to help replace him.  With Thomas’ actual replacement, Pierre Woods’ health up in the air, the Patriots hosted Rosie on a visit to Gillette Stadium today.  Mike Reiss reports:

The Patriots are hosting free-agent outside linebacker Rosevelt Colvin on a visit today at Gillette Stadium, according to a league source.

Colvin, who played for the team from 2003-2007, has not played a game this season after being released by the Houston Texans at the end of training camp.

While adding Colvin would be nice, there are issues surounding him.  Is he healthy?  Can he still be affective?  He is coming off of a serious injury and was released by the Texans at the end of training camp.

Colvin won’t be what he was earlier in his career, but he could still be a nice situational pass rusher, which is something the Patriots need badly.

The Patriots do have a roster spot open, as cornerback Jason Webster was placed on IR today.
