Rosey's Back

It looks like Rosevelt Colvin will be making the West Coast trip after all.  A day after visiting with the team, Colvin signed a contract with the team, according to multiple sources, including the Boston Globe.

While at this point it is hard to project what Colvin’s impact could be considering he hasn’t played a regular season game in a year, he could help in the pass rush.  I think that Belichick would only sign Colvin if he was healthy, so I think that is a good sign.

The Patriots defense has been weakest in two areas this season; pass rush and pass defense.  Rosey’s biggest strengths are his pass rushing skills, and if he can get a good rush, that will indirectly assist the secondary.

According to the Globe, the Patriots have also remained in contact with Victor Hobson, although he decided to sign with the Bengals (wow!).

The Patriots also signed rookie outside linebacker Angelo Craig to the practice squad.  Craig, from Cincinatti, was a 7th round pick of the Bengals but was released at the end of training camp.  Craig was a player I actually had my eye on heading into the draft.  He is big, fast, and really fits the build of a 3-4 linebacker.

The Patriots’ peak in interest may also mean that either Pierre Woods or Adalius Thomas are headed to injured reserve.  But from what I’m hearing, it looks like Thomas might actually be back before the end of the regular season.
