Updated Visit List
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve reported many pre-draft visits by Patriots prospects. So many, in fact, that it has become difficult to remember who actually visited.
As you may know, teams are allowed to host 30 pre-draft visits. The past several years, many players that the Patriots have drafted, Jerod Mayo, Brandon Meriweather and Laurence Maroney to name a few, have been in on pre-draft visits.
So, in my estimation, these visits are a true estimate of interest. Although, like Michael Bush a couple of years back, they can often be for medical or even character checks.
So, through today’s date, here are all of the visits that I can confirm through various reports:
- Connor Barwin, OLB/TE, Cincinatti (Round 1-2)
- Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan (Round 1-2)
- Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest (Round 1-2)
- Patrick Chung, S, Oregon (Round 2)
- William Moore, S, Missouri (Round 2)
- Evander “Ziggy” Hood, DL, Missouri (Early Round 2)
- Jarron Gilbert, DE, San Jose State (Early Round 2)
- Robert Ayers, DL/LB, Tennessee (Round 1)
- Jason Williams, LB, Western Illinois (Round 3)
- Pat White, QB/WR, West Virginia (Round 2-3)
- Brooks Foster, WR, North Carolina (Round 4-5)
- Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois (Round 1)
- Malcolm Jenkins, DB, Ohio State (Top 20)
- Brandon Tate, WR, North Carolina (Round 3)
- McKenna “Bear” Pascoe, TE, Fresno State (Round 5-6)
- Stephen McGee, QB, Texas A & M (Round 5-6)
- Andre Brown, RB, N.C. State (Round 2-3)
- Lawrence Sidbury, DE/OLB, Richmond (Round 2-3)
- Tony Carter, CB, Florida State (Round 6-7)
- Johnny Knox, WR, Abilene Christian (Round 3-4)
- Rich Ohrnberger, G, Penn State (Round 6-7)
- Adrian Grady, DT, Louisville (Round 6-7)
- Terrence Knighton, DL, Temple (Round 5-6)
- Larry English, DE/OLB, Northern Illinois (rumored) (Round 1-2)
- Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut (rumored) (Round 1-2)
- Tyrone McKenzie, ILB, South Florida (Round 3)
- Andre Smith, OT, Alabama (Top 10)
- Shawn Nelson, TE, Southern Miss (Round 2-3)
- Chris Clemons, S, Clemson (Round 3)
So there you have it. 25 visits and coutning. I will update this list as appropriate.
Update 4/12: Added draft projections.
Update 4/13: Added Tyrone McKenzie, an outside linebacker at South Florida who looks like he could be a solid run stuffing candidate at inside linebacker in the Patriots’ 3-4.
Update 4/13: Added Andre Smith. The list unofficially stands at 27, as I’m not positive about the English or Donald Brown visits.
Update 4/23: Added Shawn Nelson and Chris Clemons.

Thanks for the list Greg!!!
I was wondering if it was possible on your next update to the list to give us an idea as to what round these candidates could possibly be drafted in.

Sure, no problem. You’ll also be getting details on most if not all of these guys, as I will continue to roll out the position by position previews.

Thanks again Greg.
It looks like the Pats pretty much are going with the Defense for the first couple of rounds this year.
In the first round; If we took out English and Brown due to them being rumored. Delmas for his very low Wonderlic, and Jenkins because he is probably a top 10 pick. We are left with Barwin, Ayers, and Davis as the possible 23rd pick.
The Dark Horse could be Darius Butler, whom Belichick personally worked out at the UConn Pro day. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Pats trade two of the late second rounders and a third rounder for another 1st rounder. The Pats could go Barwin and Butler in the 1st round.
Who knows… We’ll find out in a couple of weeks. Its fun to speculate though.

Well the Patriots did have a private workout with English, so they have some interest. I’d say he is a definite possibility.
I think we should pass on Donald Brown and wait until 58 and consider Andre Brown there.
I don’t know about Ayers. He never really had a true position in college. I don’t know how well he’d transition to the 3-4. Big risk.
But I think you’re spot on with Butler, as well as Barwin, and like you said, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Patriots moved up for another first rounder.
Nice work.

This is the list I posted on the Pats Pulpit message board, with referenced source as applicable (Mike Reiss / Boston Globe is source unless otherwise noted). Good work. However, I am about 99% sure of the Tyrone McKenzie visit.
Like you said, I am very suspect of the Donald Brown visit. But for now, I will leave it up there.
I hadn’t heard or been tipped about the Don Carey, Sherman Logan or Derek Cox visits, so very good work on those.

Hey great job. I posted a similar blog with videos, and player profiles of over 30 guys the Pats looked at, and worked out. Looks like I missed a few here though, oh well, back to the list.
