Patriots Select Sebastian Vollmer

If you read this blog regularly, you’d know that I know a lot about the draft.  A lot.  However, the Patriots’ 58th overall selection in this draft, was never on my radar.

The right tackle from Houston has great size at nearly 6-8.  He is a hard worker, and has risen up draft boards since the end of the regular season.  However, he lacks strength and is very stiff in the hips.

Apparently, the Patriots saw something they really liked in Vollmer.  However, with players like William Beatty and Jarron Gilbert on the board, this pick really amazes me.

Well, in Belichick we trust.  Maybe Vollmer can be the right tackle of the future.

Guys, the more I read about this kid, the more I like the pick. I think 58 was a reach, but he is a true right tackle, whereas Beatty is more of a left tackle.

He is a hard worker and great character. Beatty has had character concerns.

He definitely can’t move to the left side, but maybe he can turn out to be a beast on the right side. In Bill we trust…. Hey, Bill Belichick making an appearance on ESPN in a couple minutes.
