The Patriots selected Louisville guard George Bussey with pick 170 in the fifth round.
Bussey is 6-2, and over 300 pounds. He played some tackle at Louisville but will likely play just guard in the NFL.
I think this is a depth pick, and it seems like a reach. Still, Bussey is a wide-bodied player who was [...]
Okay, things really heated up the last few minutes.
To start things off, the Patriots traded cornerback Ellis Hobbs to the Philadelphia Eagles for two fifth round picks, 137th and 141st overall.
However, they quickly traded these picks to the Baltimore Ravens for a fourth rounder, 123rd overall, and a sixth rounder, 198th overall.
With the fourth round [...]
In another solid pick by the Patriots, the New England Patriots selected South Florida inside linebacker Tyrone McKenzie with the 97th overall selection.
McKenzie is another high motor, great character player. He has good range and instincts, is versatile, and has good size and strength, although he doesn’t play too physical at the line of [...]
The Patriots have traded their assigned 3rd round pick, #89 overall, to the Tennessee Titans for their2010 second round pick.
I love it. These are the types of picks that have future value in mind. The Patriots now have three 2010 second round picks.
Pick #97 is a compensatory pick, so the Patriots will in fact select [...]
With the 83rd pick of the 2009 NFL draft, the Patriots selected Brandon Tate, wide receiver from North Carolina.
Tremendous talent, but as you’ve probably heard, he tested positive for marijuana at the scouting combine, which means that there is a risk there because he is already on the NFL’s substance abuse program.
Still, if he can [...]
From the Patriots twitter:
The #Patriots will send their 1st of four 3rd round picks (73) to JAX in exchange for 2010 2nd rd pick and a 7th round pick this year (232).
Check out this video on Vollmer by DraftGuysTV. It should give you a good idea of what he’s capable of. Looks like he plays smart, physical, and has got great football.

I’m flat out excited. With the depth of this draft (although it lacks top-end talent), and four third round picks, the Patriots could pick up a lot of future starters.
I think the Pats will draft a tight end at some point this day. A few names to consider: Shawn Nelson, Cornelius Ingram, Bear Pascoe and [...]
The Patriots wheeled and dealed all throughout the first day, trading down in the first round twice, trading up in the second, acquiring two more third round picks, and another fifth round pick, all while trading away a fourth and a sixth.
Wow.
The team also made four (yes, four) selections in the second round. At 34, [...]
If you read this blog regularly, you’d know that I know a lot about the draft. A lot. However, the Patriots’ 58th overall selection in this draft, was never on my radar.
The right tackle from Houston has great size at nearly 6-8. He is a hard worker, and has risen up draft boards since the [...]
