Thought I'd share some notes I've taken on a few 2010 prospects.  Most of these guys are 3-4 ends, nose tackles, outside linebackers, and inside linebackers, as those are generally the toughest to evaluate for the system.

- DE Joe Ma’aseia, Portland State: 6-5, 280 lbs, 3-4 end

- Small School DE/OLBS:

o Austen Lane, Murray State: 6-6, 258 lbs, 4.6 40

o James Ruffin, Northern Iowa

o Danny Batten, South Dakota State

o Andrian Tracy, William and Mary

o Tim Knicky, Stephen F. Austin

- Greg Hardy, Ole Miss o 6-5, 265 pound DE/OLB

o Athletic, premier pass rusher o Projected top 10 pick

- Arthur Jones, Syracuse o 6-3, 300 pound DE/DT

o Strong, can occupy blockers, also a playmaker

o Could fit into the role of Jarvis Green

- Brandon Spikes, Florida

o 6-3, 256 pound ILB

o Would play strong side, occupy guards

- Terrence Cody, Alabama

o 6-4, 365 pound defensive tackle

o Could fit at the nose

o Reminds me of Shaun Rogers with his size and strength

- Corey Wooton, DE, Northwestern

o 6-6, 270 pound defensive end

o Could bulk up and fit the 3-4 scheme in 5-technique

- Jared Odrick, Penn State

o 6-4, 300+ pound d-lineman who could occupy blockers as a 3-4 end, but could stay inside, where he played collegiately

- Brandon Lang, DE/OLB, Troy

- Jerry Hughes, OLB/ILB/DE, TCU

o At 6-2, 252 lbs, shorter than ideal, but plays big o Pass rush specialist, but has some qualities that could make him an intriguing candidate as an inside linebacker.

- Eric Norwood, ILB, South Carolina

o 6 foot, 250 pound outside linebacker who would project inside in the Pats’ 3-4

o Has good speed, can rush the passer, nice strength… ideal candidate as a SILB

- George Selvie, DE/OLB, South Florida

o 6-4, 245 pound pass rush specialist who possesses the unique physical tools to make the switch to outside linebacker in the 3-4

- Willie Young, DE/OLB, North Carolina State

o A good fit for 3-4 outside linebacker… great size (6-5, 250 lbs), good quickness, good fluidity

I'm keeping my eye on Brandon Spikes.

Pats haven't had a middle linebacker that strong since the days of good 'ole Ted Johnson.

George Selvie and Brandon Spikes are my top-two prospects on that list, so to land either one of them would be great for this defense.
