Pro Football Talk is reporting that the New England Patriots will sign former Raiders’ quarterback Andrew Walter:

On Friday, the Patriots worked out a quarterback not named Mike Vick.

Cleo Lemon, as we reported Saturday, got the nod.  But Lemon isn’t getting a contract.

Per a league source, the Patriots plan to sign former Raiders quarterback Andrew Walter instead.

Don’t quite know what to say about this move.  I’ve watched Walter play a couple of games for Oakland in the past, and I wasn’t impressed.  He seems turnover prone, but has good size at 6-6, 230 lbs.  He has three touchdowns and sixteen interceptions for his career, with a 52.3% completion percentage and a career 52.6 rating.

He will likely compete with Brian Hoyer for the 3rd string quarterback spot.
